AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship

The AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship is designed for the next generation of Korean Studies scholars who seek to improve their Hanmun (Classical Chinese) literacy while staying at the Academy of Korean Studies.

Eligibility

Undergraduate students, master’s and doctoral degree students majoring in Korean Studies at overseas universities (including candidates of master’s or doctoral degrees). Korean nationals are ineligible for this program. Advanced Korean language skills are required, as the program will be conducted in Korean.

Support Details
  • Airfare : 1 economy roundtrip ticket.
  • Monthly Stipend : 1,000,000 won
  • Available Facilities : Libraries and many more. Room in a guesthouse on the AKS premises will be provided.
Program Period

March - June (4 months), September - December (4 months)

Program Details and Duties
  • 3 days per week of lectures based on original Hanmun texts, Individual study, Visits to historical sites and archives of ancient sources
  • All participants must submit a final report
