The Division of International Support for Korean Studies at the Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies held the 8th Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship (Advanced Class) for 16 weeks from September 1, 2023 to December 21, 2023. This year marks the fifth iteration of the Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship, aimed at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students majoring in Korean studies at overseas universities to enhance the Hanmun (Classical Chinese) skills of the next generation of Korean scholars abroad.

Four students, selected from various countries worldwide, significantly improved their Hanmun (Classical Chinese) skills by studying three subjects: "The Analects," "Mencious," and "A Collection of Korean Prose." In addition, they participated in a tour of the Buyeo region organized by the Baekje History and Culture Institute. This tour aimed to understand the political, economic, social, cultural, and daily aspects of life during the Baekje period, alongside foreign students from Konyang University. They also took part in a plogging event held at the Pangyo Social Welfare Center to engage with local residents.

In 2024, the 9th (Basic class) and the 10th (Advanced Class) AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship will be operated.
