The Division of International Support for Korean Studies at the Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies held the 179th Colloquium on Korean Studies Abroad on November 22, 2023, at the Munhyeonggwan Grand Conference Room. The colloquium was held to present the research outcomes of Prof. Lee Young-im of California State University, Sacramento, a recipient of the 2023 AKS Fellowship.

Professor Lee, speaking on "The End of the Era, or the Past Long Lasting? Impeachment of Park Geun-hye and the Park Chung-hee Nostalgia," focused on the changes in the evaluation of former President Park Chung-hee and nostalgia for dictatorship after the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye. Lee particularly emphasized the need for research on the post-impeachment period and noted the importance of studying the circumstances and political legacy of Park's impeachment.

The colloquiums drew many researchers and graduate students, who shared their opinions. The Division of International Support for Korean Studies will continue to organize events to promote communication among local and foreign researchers.
