The 174th Colloquium of Korean Studies Abroad took place at the Grand Conference Room at the Grand Conference Room at the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) on June 9(Fri), 2023. The 174th Colloquium featured a lecture by Dr. Milagros Flores-Román (former president of ICOFORT), who visited Korea under the "Overseas Scholars Invitation Program" run by the Gyeonggi Cultural Heritage Institute.

 

Dr. Milagros Flores-Román spoke about the history and global heritage value of the World Heritage-listed San Juan Castle. The doctor also discussed the military importance of the San Juan Castle in Puerto Rico, the history and development of castle, and the reasons for its designation as the UNESCO World Heritage and its value.

 

The colloquiums drew many researchers and graduate students, who shared their opinions. The Division of International Support for Korean Studies will continue to organize events to promote communication among local and foreign researchers.
