The Education Program for Textbook Specialist project is designed to improve the level of understanding of Korea by inviting social studies teachers and textbook writers as well as government officials responsible for textbook policies to Korea. Lectures on Korean history, culture, society, and the economy are provided, and seminars on textbooks and cultural experience opportunities and field trips are offered as well in an effort to gradually improve the contents of foreign textbooks related to Korea. Additionally, the project seeks to develop international understanding from mutually reciprocal positions by examining content in textbooks that describe each other’s country and considering cooperative methods to improve the descriptions in textbooks.

Annual textbook seminars look at how various cultures are currently being described in different countries’ textbooks and seek to provide a forum to discuss how to improve mutual understanding among cultures through textbooks. Building of this, we can strengthen the trust in our relationships and seek cooperative ways to improve our textbooks.
We hold regional educational cooperation programs for education specialists in other countries to create an educational cooperation network, based on which we correct or improve the information about Korea presented in textbooks published in those countries.
※ Target regions: North America, Central and South America, Southwest Asia (Middle East), Central and Southern Africa, Oceania, and Europe.
