The potentiality of the countries and their force of cultural transmission in the context of globalization, have made possible the establishment of the connections that occur from one point to another on the global stage; This leads us to reflect on the impact that forms of cultural expression have on different settings and, as an ancient and modern culture are introduced in the furthest points of their geography, the best way to learn from each other is culture.

Each of us can build relationships that give us the strength to achieve community goals. If each person builds a significant number of relationships, even if they are diverse, they can likely solve problems that they have in common.

Multiculturalism opens up the possibilities for us to think in a more receptive society and develop greater cultural sensitivity, it allows us to see the world from another perspective. In this sense, the possibility of having been able to visit and live Korea in 2019 was more than a learning journey over 5000 years of history, of incomparable and beautiful landscapes, which became a life experience.

We embarked on this adventure with a group of professionals from different areas of Paraguayan education.

The preparation of the trip was full of emotions and feelings to know that beautiful country, one of the most developed in the world and until then unknown to us; With the great expectation of deepening the knowledge about its history, its people, its lifestyle, its culture in general and with a perhaps vague knowledge of what SOUTH KOREA timidly permeated the Paraguayan culture means for the Asian continent, it finally materialized with the arrival in Seoul.

Our first days in Korea were a whirlwind of activities. Recognized for their already characterized hospitality, discipline, respect, and organization, they managed to impact our daily lives on Korean soil, the life of a country in full development with deeply rooted traditions and, at the same time, majestic modernity that makes it unique and special among other nations.

Beyond all the experience and learning lived and shared in the Republic of Korea, we think of the valuable program developed by the Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies from its project "Understanding Korea", which gives the possibility to professionals from different countries to deepen, know and live the experience of the development of the country through the culture and opportunities offered by a first world country, and thus be able to transmit all the accumulation of experiences learned in Korea to our compatriots, becoming a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between two distant but connected cultures through its people.

The second chapter of all this experience in South Korea led us to another challenge that in turn added new steps towards our already admired impression of the country, which made it possible to participate in the proposal on project competitions in February 2021 Thus, the Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies selects and offers financial assistance for civil organizations that carry out activities in favor of promoting the Understanding Korea project outside the country and professionals who have participated in some Understanding Korea programs.

We very enthusiastically accepted the call and with the team made up of three professionals from Paraguayan history and education, we decided to carry out the project called “Like… and let's get to know Korea. Join the Korea Adventure!”, Which in April 2021 was the winner among other projects.

Thus, we fulfilled the desire to bring to Paraguay and share with students, teachers, directors of educational institutions, and fans of Korean culture this important program, supported by the AKS of the Republic of Korea. From that moment on, we started a new path for the first time in Paraguay, spreading Korean culture with the help of Paraguayan teachers.

The project Like… and let's get to know Korea. Join the Korea adventure! From its beginnings, it had a very positive impact, arousing interest in Korean culture until then little known in-depth and, although the Korean lifestyle in terms of music universalized through K-pop, gastronomy, K-dramas, and technological development had permeated the Paraguayan culture in a timid way - since there is still little information, especially in the Spanish language, of what really constitutes South Korea on the world stage -, and although Korean immigrant communities coexist in our country, reaching almost 60 years of age, there are still barriers that do not allow us to deepen the Korean culture and lifestyle.

The first Seminar part of the project that we carried out in July 2021 had an excellent result in terms of the interest aroused by the launch of some primers on the different aspects of Korean life and culture; It was developed with great success as authorities from the Paraguayan Ministry of Education and Sciences, historians, education professionals, and university students had a first meeting in the adventure of learning a little more about Korea.

Later, within the framework of the development of the project activities, we shared the experience of Understanding Korea with Paraguayan children and young people, students of public schools in Paraguay, specifically in the Central department, resulting in an unsuspected interest of the participants to learn more about Korean culture and learning their language.

We are currently going through the last period of the project, which constitutes the ability to share, through a virtual platform, and audiovisual material made exclusively by the team of Paraguayan teachers from Project ¡Like… and let's get to know Korea. Join the Korea adventure!, And with which we hope to reach all the farthest corners of Paraguayan geography.

Confident that this will be the case and with the experience of the workshops shared in different virtual platforms with results of great interest, we wish to continue being the pioneers in extending the Understanding Korea program in our country and reaching its different departments. It is worth highlighting the support that the Project received from the Korean Embassy in Paraguay, as well as the support in almost all the activities carried out by the Korean Educational Center in Paraguay, which with great kindness and interest joined the project and with who make a great fellowship.

We hope that this experience adds friendship, support, empathy, knowledge, and cooperation between both nations.
