The Division of Understanding Korea Project of the Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies held an "Online Textbook Seminar for Educators of Azerbaijan" on August 24-26, 2021.

The event started with a welcoming speech by Jo Yung-hui, head of the Center for International Affairs, and briefing about the Academy of Korean Studies and the Understanding Korea Project by Jang Won-seok, head of the Division of Understanding Korea Project. The participants discussed Korea-related contents in Azerbaijan textbooks on the first day, and on the second and third days, they had time to get deep understanding of Korea by attending lectures on Korean studies.

 

On the first day, the Azerbaijan educators made presentations on the Azerbaijan education system, textbook policy and Korea-related contents in Azerbaijan textbooks. The Korean side suggested specific ways to improve Korea-related contents in Azerbaijan textbooks and promised bilateral cooperation on textbooks.

 

On the second and third days, lectures on Korean studies introduced Korea's economic development, Korean history from ancient times to the present, Korea's humanities and geographic environment, and the characteristics of today's Korean education. The lectures helped the Azerbaijan educators understand Korea's past and present and share their implications.

 

The Azerbaijan educators welcomed cooperation with Korea which they believed would not only help international education cooperation but also enhance the quality of Azerbaijan education. They said that the training program provided them with a meaningful time for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
