Call for Applicants: 2026 Development of Educational Materials and Activities for Understanding Korea Support Project
The Academy of Korean Studies, Understanding Korea Project Office invites overseas experts in elementary, middle, and high school education or textbooks to participate in the “Development of Educational Materials and Activities for Understanding Korea Support Project.”
1. Support recipients: overseas experts in elementary, middle, or high school education and textbooks authors
2. Support category: Development of Educational Materials for Understanding Korea, Understanding Korea Activities
3. Support amount: up to KRW 40 million per project (the amount of assistance may vary according to the nature of
each project)
4. Grant period: [scheduled] March 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027
5. Grant application period: November 3, 2025, 09:00 – December 12, 2025, 17:00 (Korea Standard Time)
6. Grant award announcement: [scheduled] February 13 (Fri), 2026, via AKS website and by email

The 106th Societas Koreana Meeting

The Division of International Support for Korean Studies held the 106th Societas Koreana Lecture Meeting on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Westin Josun Seoul Hotel. Mr. Han Jin-Myung (former Third Secretary at the North Korean Embassy in Vietnam) spoke on the topic of “Analysis of North Korea’s ASEAN Strategy and Future Prospects,” examining the historical background and diplomatic shifts in North Korea-ASEAN relations.
In his talk, Mr. Han analyzed the international context and examined North Korea’s diplomacy and regional strategy, focusing on the formation and development of diplomatic relations between North Korea and ASEAN countries. Attendees showed great interest in the context behind North Korea’s recognition of ASEAN as a diplomatic partner. They also paid close attention to North Korea’s regional diplomatic strategy and how it has evolved in response to external conditions.
