The 10th AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship

The Division of International Support for Korean Studies at the Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies held the 10th AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship for 16 weeks from September 2 to December 19, 2024. Now in its 10th iteration, the fellowship is designed for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Korean Studies at universities abroad and aims to enhance the Classical Chinese competencies of the next generation of Korean Studies scholars.
During the fellowship, students studied three subjects 'The Analects,' 'Mencius,' and 'Classical Chinese Reading.' Additionally, they gained a firsthand understanding of Korean Confucian culture through visits to Andong and Yeongju and engaged with young people of various nationalities in a cultural exchange program at the Bundang Pangyo Youth Center.
All six students from six countries who completed the fellowship left reviews stating that their ability to interpret Hanmun (Classical Chinese) had improved through the program, and they expressed plans to actively utilize their skills in future Korean Studies research.
In 2025, the 11th and the 12th AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship will be operated.
